ACCORDING to the Balearic Institute for Family Policy (IPFB), 40 per cent of residents in the region get some kind of help from their families.
Now the group is asking the regional government to develop “family-oriented policies that put the family at the centre of the political agenda.”
The IPFB wants the regional government to come up with a ‘comprehensive plan for family support’ for the 2013 -2017 period along with a budget, laws covering maternity and the balancing of family and career.
It also wants the creation of a committee on marriage break-ups, the reintroduction of a ‘school cheque’ and a unified school district. And it wants to start operating the Family Support Observatory and the Infancy and Family Department.
