THE staff of 1,360 workers in Palma’s public water treatment company Emaya will not be paid the Christmas extra salary this year. Budgetary cuts in public companies led to this decision. However, they will do receive the Christmas hamper.
According to the terms in their collective labour agreement, Emaya has to allocate €43,000 for social expenses, including training courses and the traditional basket. So, each of the workers is guaranteed a €82 valued hamper.
