SOME patients can not afford the cost of medicine.
That is the message sent by pharmacies since the ill have been forced to pay a greater share of the cost of their medication.
Chemists’ association Aprofarma chairman Chairman Alfonso Monllor said: “There are thousands of unemployed people who run out of all the possible state grants, and some of them are sick.”
He added sardonically: “The partial payment of medications has been the icing on the cake.
“What the patient saves on medication, he finally pays with his own health. This is worse in the long term, because it means more expenses for emergency services.”
