Ping pong charity boost

DEBRA Butterfly Children’s Charity has received a boost of €300 from the La Marina Table Tennis Club. The presentation was made to Mary Chambers from the La Marina DEBRA charity shop. Thanking the members of the club she said the money will go to the charity’s respite centre based in Marbella, Costa del Sol.

The La Marina Table Tennis Club was set up around four years ago by Brian O’Reilly. He initially had the expense of buying the tables and supplies but now that investment has been repaid through club subscriptions, he is able to make charitable donations. “We have between eight and 16 people at the club who pay just €3 each per week.

Since October last year we were kindly given permission to use the Social Centre in La Marina free of charge, so I am now able to give some of that money back to charity.” Explained Brian. “I chose the Butterfly Children Charity as I like the kids.”

The La Marina Table Tennis Club is a friendly, relaxed club that meets every Friday afternoon.  Coaching is available. For more information call Brian on 698 243 893.
