CHAMPION: Wiggins now wants to win the Giro d'Italia.
TOUR de France champion and Olympic gold medallist Bradley Wiggins has arrived in Mallorca to train for next season.
The star cyclist’s love of Mallorca is well known and he came to the island last August to holiday in Pollença with his wife and two children. There have been reports that he was house hunting in the Pollença area. Shane Sutton, Wiggins’s coach, said his charge would seek cycling immortality next season by winning the Giro d’Italia. Wiggins was injured earlier this month after being hit by a van in Lancashire.
He said: “I think he’s probably hungrier now because the challenge is greater, but the expectation isn’t as big. Taking away the expectation has been fantastic and, off the back of that, he’ll have a great Tour anyway. He wants to do a great Giro. He wants legendary status and to win the Giro would help that.”
