THE promenade at Almeria is to get a makeover and will be almost 1km longer after the work is carried out.
But the biggest development will be the addition of a three metre wide cycle lane surrounded bordered by landscaped areas.
Another new feature will be 17,000 cubic metres of sand dumped in a bid to recover an eroded beach. Work will start before next month and is expected to cost €2.3million.
The project has been in the pipeline for ten years and there is still some way to go before it is finished as the council is in dispute over the purchase of land.
