THE 900 Spanish troops attached to the UN mission in Lebanon are to get safer vehicles. The ministry of Defence is providing 47 new Lynx multi-purpose light armoured vehicles (LMVs) for patrol duties. These will replace the more vulnerable BMR vehicles which afforded little protection in an attack on a Spanish convoy in 2007 when seven soldiers were killed.
