Students get a power talk

KNOWLEDGE is power, El Palmeral Institute Director Francisco Carmona told around 100 students at a ceremony to mark the start of the new term.
“Its necessary to educate men and women in order to change the future,” he said in an address before the Mayor of Vera, José Carmelo Jorge, Provincial Education Inspector Antonio Asensio, journalist Pedro Fernández Céspedes, together with directors of the Cuatro Caños and Reyes Católicos educational centres, and the director of IES ‘Alyanub’.
Carmona also recalled the current economic climate and the recent local disasters, hoping a quick return to normality following “this historical moment of the most serious consequence to humanity.”
