Málaga CF defeated Real Valladolid, despite an early goal by Manucho, with two powerful goals by Isco and Joaquín.

The Blue and Whites had their first shot at goal within the first five minutes, when a pass from Joaquín to Camacho went over the bar.  Valladolid didn’t hesitate to create their first chance to score, and three minutes later a shot by Omar caused trouble in the Málaga penalty area.  A goal kick by Willy landed at the feet of Ebert, who failed to score, though he created a chance for Manucho who scored for the home side in their third attempt at goal, putting them 1-0 ahead.

Impressive play between Saviola and Portillo saw the latter in front of Dani’s goal, though he sent the ball too far to the left of the goal.  Another shot by Rukavina again kept Willy on his toes, with Manuel Pellegrini’s men finding it difficult to find the rhythm of the game during the first half hour.

The Blue and Whites failed to equalise by minute 35, however this was all about to change thanks to Isco.  A pass from Eliseu on the left was received by Isco in front of the penalty area, who slammed the ball into the back of the net, which was impossible for goalkeeper Dani to save, putting the score at 1-1 at half-time.

Valladolid continued to search for their second goal at the start of the second half, when Willy saved another shot by Manucho which nearly put them 2-1 up.

Málaga continued in their attempt to dominate the match, with Pellegrini substituting Portillo for Santa Cruz.  Just two minutes later another shot at goal was saved by Dani and a corner kick was declared, with Joaquín looking for glory.  Manuel Pellegrini’s men continued in their quest for goal number two, but failed to score, despite several shots from outside the penalty area.

Minute 69 saw one of the best moments of the game.  A fantastic display by Isco to Eliseu, who then passed to Joaquín, was stopped by Balenziaga.  The fans were going wild in the terraces in Málaga’s attempt to score another goal, and the Blue and Whites continued to dominate possession.  Isco led the way with regard to passing, control and shots at goal, causing trouble for the home team.

Only minutes later, a pass from Camacho, to Isco, to Roque opened up the pitch for Saviola inside the penalty area.  A foul by Sereno on Saviola led to a Blue and Whites penalty.  Joaquín took the shot, sending the ball over the bar.

Joaquín didn’t hesitate in trying to score the winning goal for Málaga, and a fantastic goal from just outside the six yard box in the 87th minute was impossible for Dani to save, and the visitors were 2-1 up.

Willy Caballero saved another impressive shot by Óscar minutes later, with the striker directly in front of the Málaga penalty area.

The final result was a victory against Valladolid, who ended the match with just ten men following Manucho being sent off.  The Blue and Whites are now looking ahead to their third Champions League match on Wednesday against AC Milan at La Rosaleda.
