CELEBRATED: Chirimoya (custard apple) grown in the Rio Verde Valley.
A LOCAL fest is being held in the neighbourhood of Torrecuevas in Almuñecar until Sunday (October 14). At the same time, the 42 fest of the Chirimoya (custard apple) marks the beginning of the harvest season.
This tropical food employs many neighbours in the Rio Verde Valley and is very important for the locals. The events include fruit and gastronomy contests, a drawing contest and an agricultural award.
The local festival is held mainly in the Acueducto square. Children’s activities are offered alongside concerts, poker and bingo competitions, sports such as football, cycling and hiking, food and drinks, flamenco dresses and photography contests.
