CAMERO CUP: winners Mike Detheridge and Kate Morris.
MIRAFLORES Bowls Club staged the second Camero Cup event. This year it was an open mixed pairs event with virtually all of the clubs on the Costa del Sol supporting the event.
Teams were split into four groups for the qualifying stage with each playing three other teams. Four group winners went to the semi-finals. Frank and Pauline Ball (Mijas) played Malcolm Greenwood and Wendy Pemberton (Benavista), while John Owen and Liz Bryce (Superbowl) were drawn against Mike Detheridge and Kate Morris (Benalmadena).
The format of play changed to three bowl pairs over 14 ends for the semi. Malcolm and Wendy beat Mike and Kate in the final who went on to win the event and the Camero Cup, presented to them by club president Derek Shemmings.
