AN ambulance company has gone on strike following ten staff dismissals and disciplinary proceedings launched against a further four. Staff at Ambulancias Manuel Pasquau, which works for the Andalucian Health Service, previously staged several protests in August to demand payment of salaries.
Union Comisiones Obreras said the company has stopped emergency ambulances transporting patients to Malaga University Hospital and to Las Albarizas Health Centre in Marbella.
They complain that residents in Marbella, San Pedro, Ojen, Istan and Benahavis no longer have an emergency ambulance covering the area. Meanwhile the Health Department has denied cancelling any ambulances and has said that the company is not owed any money.
