TESTING TIMES: Outdoor drinking parties proving too much for some locals
RESIDENTS of Avenida del Mar in Almeria said they are ‘tired’ of people doing botellon (outdoor drinking) below their homes every night. According to a group of residents who live above a pedestrian pass over the avenue, every night a score of people go to drink below their homes, selling narcotics and listening to loud music blaring from their car speakers. Neighbours have called the police at least 35 times in the past month and sent the city hall several letters complaining about the situation with no results. Some residents have reportedly resorted to checking-in to nearby hotels to escape the noise, and intend to send the receipts of their overnight stays along with the police reports to prove the difficult situation they are in.
