Visitors’ disgust at Olympic catering

SOME foreign visitors to the London Olympics have been less than impressed by the food. Several visitors from overseas offered a negative review of the caterers’ attempt at their national cuisine.

“It doesn’t look like Mexican. It looks like it’s from the US. We’re not insulted but they really don’t know about Mexican food.” said Jesus Bernal, from Mexico speaking to the Guardian.

Meanwhile the response from British visitors wasn’t much better.  One British diner was less than impressed with his oriental-style prawn dish, or as he called it “gravy and prawns”.  “Perhaps it was a classic example of British eccentricity of the kind we saw in the opening ceremony,” he added.

There have also been complaints about the lack of water available and of long queues for food in the Olympic park.  Visitors are forbidden to bottles bigger than 100ml and “excessive amounts of food” into the park. The park is home to the world’s largest McDonald’s.
