SINCE opening on earlier this month, Denia town’s new information centre has broken all records by recording an average of 500 visitors a day. The well trained, multilingual staff say they have already answered thousands of questions ranging from directions to beaches and bed and breakfast accommodation, to information on shopping and entertainment.
Quite a few asked about “the nearest Chinese take-away and fish and chip shops,” and one bright couple actually asked where could they buy, “real genuine Spanish wine,” Situated just outside the castle and the historical centre commercial district, the centre compliments the additional service offered from the central office and the open point for tourism on Cervantes Esplanade.
The Consell Square office has an approximate area of 60 square meters and is equipped with a toilet, air conditioning and a lift to the first floor, where the council are planning to locate a showroom on the historic central city. The offices are open to the public daily from 11am to 1.30pm and from 6.30pm to 10pm.
