Officer disqualified for illegal arrest

A COURT in Malaga has sentenced a Guardia Civil officer to 10 months in prison for illegally arresting a young man for sleeping with his underage step-daughter.

He has also been banned from the Guardia Civil for eight years. The court deemed his behaviour to be ‘clumsy and selfish’ when he illegally detained his daughter’s friend who had not committed any crime. According to the sentence, the events occurred two years ago in the young man’s family home in Cartama, Malaga.

The 14-year-old girl had spent the night in her friend’s bed “although there is no evidence that they had had any kind of sexual interaction.” The young man, who was 18 at the time, was confronted by the teen’s father at the house the next morning. When the officer questioned the young man about what had happened he attacked him as well as his 71-year-old grandmother when she tried to stop the attack. On the way to his vehicle he also assaulted a neighbour who was carrying his infant daughter, knocking them both to the ground. The officer will have to pay fines to all the people he injured in the incident.
