Almeria reduces rubbish costs

ALMERIA CITY HALL is adjusting its budget for rubbish collection and street cleaning, blaming the economic crisis. The city hall is attempting to cut public costs, which in Almeria’s case will reach up to € 77.6 million this year. More than €23.39 million is paid for rubbish collection and street cleaning.

Almeria City Hall’s main strategies are to reduce absenteeism, which is more than 15 per cent above the national average, and to reorganise cleaning services by cutting the number of temporary contracts, and reinforcing weekend teams with machinery.
