MORE than one million residents in the Valencia region filed for returns under the Individual Income Tax Campaign (IRPF). In response, the treasury paid €629.3 million to the people.

Data shows that there were a total of 1.5 million requests registered in the Valencia region.  Of those, 1.1 million, or 74.60 per cent, received favourable responses and were paid.

Regarding Valencia’s provinces, the treasury has already successfully returned €198.2 million to Alicante, €76.8 million to Castellon, and €354.3 million to Valencia, the province with the most filed tax returns.

National records show that the Tax Agency has returned €6.132 billion, to the individuals corresponding to 10,220,000 applications throughout the country. That means that 75 per cent of the 13.5 million applicants received their tax refund.

Though the deadline was this week, those individuals who have yet to present their application for the tax return may do so by contacting the Tax Agency directly and taking advantage of their various services offered.

The 16.7 million tax returns filed this year was a 7.8 per cent increase from last year. Of these applications, 61.6 per cent, or 10.3 million were completed and submitted online.
