TWO employees of Estepona Town Hall have been dismissed for their alleged involvement in embezzlement of municipal funds.
One of them worked in the treasury and was investigated in relation to the disappearance of €200,000 from the coffers and €16,000 from Property Tax (IBI) payments.
When the irregularities first came to light she was suspended without pay during investigations, but has now been fired for “abusing her work position” and “damaging municipal funds”.
The other person is charged with taking around €4,600 collected from traffic fines handed out by local police between 2009 and 2010.
He reportedly admitted to the crime and returned the money two days later.
