Andalucia Region fourth lowest for pensions

THE Andalucia Region had the fourth lowest average pension in June with €757.31.

This is €72.26 below the Spanish Social Security system’s average of €829.57.

Only the Murcia, Extremadura, and Galicia regions had lower average pensions than Andalucia with €730.50, €704.31 and €696.14 respectively.

The Andalucia Region had the fourth lowest pension with €757.31, followed by the Balearics and Valencia with €758.39 and €762.17 respectively.

Seven Spanish regions, as well as Ceuta, exceeded the average Spanish pension with the Basque Country, Asturias and Madrid topping the list with €1,024.74, €984.78 and €981.51 respectively.

In Spain, €7.38billion was paid out for pensions in June.

This is 4.3 per cent more than the same month last year, according to data from the Social Security and Employment Ministry.

Of this €5.02billion corresponds to payment to retirees, which is 4.8 per cent more than June 2011.

Widows received €1.39billion, a 3.2 per cent increase; people with permanent disabilities saw €838.5 million, a 2.7 per cent increase; orphans got €104.4million, a 6.6 per cent increase, and families in special circumstances €18.6 million, a 3.9 per cent rise.

The average pension for retirees was €945, 3.4 per cent more than June 2011; for widows it was €601.67, 2.6 per cent more; for people with permanent disabilities it was €887.50, 2 per cent more; for orphans €367.10, 2.2 per cent more; and for families in special circumstances it was €485.45, 2.8 per cent more.
