The work has been carried out with sand brought in lorries from Puerta del Mar beach and affected 4.000m3 of land.

According to environmental councillor Luis Aragon, “this is the most important piece of work we had planned to do before the summer season”.

Meanwhile, much-awaited work has also begun on Ferrara Beach in Torrox, which is the worst affected by storms in the Axarquia area since the seafront promenade was built in the late 80s. The sand which will be placed on the beach come from other beaches in Torrox.

In total, €150,000 will be spent on the beach so that it is ready for the summer, although a further €3 million will be invested in the future.

In Nerja, the next plenary meeting will include discussions regarding the town hall’s plan to request that the Junta de Andalucia Council of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment allow the placement of sun loungers on El Cañuelo Beach which is in the area of the Maro-Cerro Gordo Cliffs Natural Park.

The local councillor for the environment pointed out that the beach is used by a large number of people.
