Petrol station hold up not happy surprise

AN employee at a Torrox petrol station averted a robbery but received shotgun wounds for her efforts.

The 46-year-old woman was working in the shop where her assailant made several purchases.  As he was leaving, he suddenly turned, she said later, and laid an air pistol on the counter.

“I took it as a joke,” she said.  “It was my birthday and for a moment I thought he was giving me a present.  But when I saw the gun, I blocked the cash register, just in case.”

Her caution was not misplaced, because the man, aged around 30, threatened to shoot her in the head.    “I asked him, ‘What are you saying?  If you kill me, that’s one less!”

He then opened fire, but the belt she was wearing deflected the first pellets.  He then fired twice more, straight into her leg.

He ran off without that morning’s takings.  “I looked to see if he had a car, to get the number plate,” she said, “but he ran off on foot.”

After medical attention for the pellet wounds, the employee was back at work that same afternoon.

“You didn’t even get a day off sick,” a client joked.  “The economy must be really bad!”
