Number of new businesses plummeted in April

THE number of businesses created in the Balearics in April plummeted 37.9 per cent compared to the month before.

In March this year, 302 new businesses were created, while in April this fell to 219.

However, this is 4.7 per cent more than the 209 created in April 2011, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE).

On a national level, the 6,843 new businesses created in April this year is 21.6 per cent less than in March, but 0.8 per cent more than April 2011.
