Malaga wants to stay cool

ELECTRICAL demand peaked in Malaga province last Sunday due to the hot winds encouraging people to use their air-conditioning.

Nearly 1,000MW were used, according to the electrical company Endesa, which is 10 per cent more than the Sunday of the previous week.

In many households, people are reticent to turn on the air-conditioning to save on their electrical bills, but last weekend, it appears that the desire to be cool was greater than the need to save. Usage of more than 1,000MW is only expected to be registered in Malaga this summer in August, coinciding with the highest occupancy levels in hotels and holiday homes.
