Puerto Banus set for Marbella Luxury Weekend

ALL that glitters and delights the senses will be on display for four days in Puerto Banus at the Marbella Luxury Weekend.

From brunch with Tiffany’s, clapping your eyes on Michael Jackson’s ‘mythical chair’, eating Body Sushi or watching a show of one of only three F1 Ferrari’s in the world driven by Gerhard Berger and Jean Alesi, there is plenty of decadence to go around.

Among the list of confirmed guests are the heads of many luxury brands and Princess Beatrice d’Orleans, who is the Honorary President of the Spanish Association of Luxury.

The Marbella Luxury Weekend 2012 starts today (Thursday) and continues until Sunday.

Its aim is to show off to the world the luxury sector that Puerto Banus has to offer at all levels including fashion, restaurants, jewellery and motoring with exclusive presentations of the latest collections.

It is a platform for luxury brands to reveal their charm.

This initiative was launched by the Marbella Tourism Department last year and was deemed a success in its aim of securing Puerto Banus as the ‘global epicenter of high-end brands’.

The meeting points will be two tents set up at each end of the port. They will be the location of the grand opening party, private meetings, and tastings, among other activities.

Among the many activities scheduled for Thursday includes tasting of sushi the Brut Lessinger Cuvee Diamonds Champagne, Chivas Whiskey, and sampling Cigars.

There will also be a presentation of Nexus Smart Pay.

This is the payment system of the future for luxury goods and is the first biometric system, incorporating Biocryptology.

Friday packs in even more activities from morning until late evening.

Among them is the worldwide exclusive at Gomez & Molina jewelers; the presentation of Michael Jackson’s sofa, courtesy of ‘Terra Luz’.

The mythical chair that the king of pop was planning to use during his last musical appearance can be seen for the first time in Marbella.

Later that day there will be a parade of boats which will also exhibit the following day.

Saturday again sees various events and parties including a tasting of Body Sushi.

On Sunday, the last day of the event, there will be the draw of a jewel at the Tower, followed by an awards ceremony.

The world’s only hand-painted Pagani Zonda F is on display at the Guarnieri Car dealership in San Pedro de Alcantara.

The Batman-Zonda – named because the bonnet of the car has a large image of the caped crusader painted on it – forms part of an exhibition of painted car bonnets belonging to the Gomez Collection on show at the dealership.

The painted bonnets include works by several artists including Argentine plastic artist Daniela Boo, who painted the Zonda super-car valued at more than €1million.

The highlight by Ascari Race Resort will be a F1 Ferrari, piloted in the F1 World Championships of 95 by Gerhard Berger and Jean Alesi, of which there are only three in the world.
