Levante Almeriense Bus service closer to becoming reality

FURTHER meetings have been held recently to discuss plans to create a bus service to connect all of the Levante Almeriense area.

The meeting with members of the councils of each of the towns in the Levante area was held at the headquarters of the Levante Almeriense Community of Municipalities.

It focused mainly on proposals made by business owners in the area regarding routes and timetables.

At future meetings, both public and private organizations will discuss the needs of the towns in order to create a report for the Public Works and Transport Delegation.

It is hoped that the planned bus service will be launched as soon as possible.

The lack of services currently holds back local businesses and tourism, as well as failing to offer necessary connections for youths, the elderly and people who do not have private transport.

The aim is to have two buses running and three in the summer, and although the timetables and stops have not yet been decided, the proposal is to have buses every two hours at least.

The main connection would go from Bedar to Pulpi via Los Gallardos, Turre, Mojacar, Garrucha, Vera, Cuevas del Almanzora, Antas, Huercal Overa and Taberno.

This would allow people from all over the area to get to Huercal Overa, where there are several services to which they require access, such as the hospital, tax offices, social security and unemployment offices, language schools, etc.

Another route would cover Carboneras to Pulpi, possibly including Villaricos and Palomares as stops.
