‘Stolen babies’ mother seeks truth

A CADIZ judge ordered the province’s first exhumation to determine whether two allegedly dead newborns were actually “stolen babies.”

A Sanlucar de Barrameda mother was told her two babies, stillborn in 1977 and 1982, were buried in the San Jose cemetery. She neither saw their bodies nor received death certificates for them.

The woman and her other children now await DNA results to verify whether the exhumed remains are those of family members.
