Getting flowery with the Thursday Club

THE Thursday Club has become quite a feature of the activities of ESRA North. This week as well as the usual activities, the club had another dimension.

One of the main all-island competitions for ESRA is the Annual All Island Flower Show, which will take place this year on Thursday May 17 in the Santo Domingo Cloisters in Pollensa.

SRA North has a good record in the Flower Show, so this week at the Thursday Club, Jo Johns, one of the North’s flower gurus, came along to share her expertise with ESRA North members.

Within a short time members were transforming flowers, leaves and grasses into quite beautiful works of art.

The Thursday Club is continuing to attract more members who want to learn Spanish, take part in craft activities, learn about basic computing and learn to play bridge.

Many people come along to meet friends, to exchange a book or DVD, get updated local information or read the selection of newspapers that are available.

The Thursday Club is a busy place, but this week the introduction of the flower-arranging workshops brought a quiet sense of beauty into the usually busy Vecinos Rooms in Puerto Pollensa.
