RESIDENTS in Rincon de la Victoria have complained about the sad state of the town’s biggest park, Huerta Julian.
The 10,000m2 park was opened five years ago and aimed to be an area where locals and visitors of all ages could relax and enjoy themselves. It had play parks, a pond, green areas, a skate park and sports facilities.
However, many locals have failed to appreciate the facilities and it is now covered in graffiti and full of dirt and rubbish, getting even worse in the past few months.
Local residents and the opposition party have raised their complaints to the town hall saying that it needs to be cleaned more often and that certain facilities need renewing.
The spokesman for left-wing party Izquierda Unida, Pedro Fernandez Ibar, complained about the state of the park and has said that there are photos of it on hotel reservation website Trivago, which will put tourists off coming to the area.
Meanwhile, the town hall says that the park has been repaired constantly, but that the council can’t keep up with vandals.
