ABUSED women in Madrid will be able to change their door locks for free.
The Madrid government and the Safety Locksmith Union Federation have signed an agreement to provide this service for victims of gender violence once it has been authorized by a judge.
It is frequently requested by Associations for Abused Women.
The agreement is entitled ‘Close the Door on Abuse’ aims to guarantee the safety of women and their children.
Madrid is the first region to implement such as plan, although the pilot project was carried out with Cordoba city hall.
“We can’t watch from the sidelines” the President of Safety Locksmith Union Federation locksmiths said, “that would make us accomplices to the abuse.”
