Stalker avoids time in prison

A MAN who believed he was married to a woman he bombarded with messages was acquitted by a Jaen court.

A sexual fantasist suffering from hallucinations, he was also convinced that he had children with his victim.

After messages that the man left on her telephone prompted the woman to contact the police, he was barred from approaching her but still left messages.

They “had to be together” he insisted and she had to live with him “because he was her husband.”

It was essential that she lived with him so she could prepare his meals, do the housework and look after their children, he told her.

Many of the messages had sexual content and dwelt on the sexual relations they would have.

The messages began to alarm the woman to the point that she was unable to lead a normal life owing to her fear of the stalker.

The man was ordered to undergo three years of outpatient treatment for his mental condition and must remain in his daughter’s custody for three years.
