Bogus gas inspectors arrested in Marbella

FOURTEEN people were arrested in Marbella for allegedly carrying out unauthorized gas inspections.

They have been charged with several crimes, including fraud, and were mainly targeting elderly foreign residents who lived alone.

They told them that the supply would be cut off if they didn’t allow the inspection to be carried out, or sometimes that they kitchens would explode.

Amongst the detainees, there are staff, managers and owners of legitimate gas repair, installation and maintenance companies.

They were charging the victims around triple the normal price and were not registered to carry out the inspections.

Meanwhile, the Junta de Andalucia has fined to Malaga companies €60,000 and €48,000 also for carrying out illegal butane gas inspections.
