San Cristobal and Veterans Day in Torrevieja

VETERANS DAY, part of the traditional San Cristobal festivities, was celebrated on Friday morning in Torrevieja.

Accompanied by Marine Band, Tercio de Levante de Infanteria de Marina playing the Spanish national anthem, the traditional flag-raising marked the start of the Conference on Coexistence and Responsibilities of the armed forces, organized by the Brotherhood San Cristobal de la Vega Baja.

The event was attended by Torrevieja Councillors, Joaquin Albaladejo, Luis Pizana and Rosario Martinez, along with the president of the brotherhood, Antonio Marin and took place beside the Marina Salinas in Torrevieja.

About a thousand students from schools in Torrevieja, Pilar de la Horadada and Orihuela, had the opportunity to visit the military vehicles, transverse the obstacle course, touch the military equipment for themselves and enjoy the dog agility exhibition.

Former Members of the British Armed Forces Associations were well represented.
