VERA Town Hall has denied having destroyed any area where there are protected species of plants.
This comes following a report earlier this month in which they were accused of destroying certain plants.
The town hall has responded that they cleared weed and grasses from a municipal plot which is classified as a green area and which was handed over to them in exchange for building permission for an area of El Playazo.
The protected plants, they say are on the beach itself and the Charca del Gato, which have not been touched.
The plants which were removed were a nuisance for people walking along the pavements and were also full of insects and rubbish.
