A POLICEMAN has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping a prostitute.
Madrid Provincial Court has given the officer, who denied the attack, 10 years and six months in prison, and he will also have to pay the victim €20,000 in compensation.
He is banned from coming near her or contacting her in 15 years.
On February 9, 2011, the officer went to the Marconi Industrial Estate in Madrid in his own vehicle, approached the victim and told her to come with him.
When he realized there were Local Police in the area, he was ashamed to admit what he was doing and instead claimed he intended to identify her.
When it was discovered that she was illegally residing in Spain, he tied her arms behind her back and told the other policemen that he was taking her to the station, rejecting their help.
On the way, he stopped the car and sexually abused her, following which she fled naked and requested help from a taxi driver.
The court considered that the victim’s account of the events was true as she didn’t change her story at any time.
