Six arrested for insurance fraud

SIX people have been arrested for committing fraud against their insurance companies.

Three of them own car repair shops in Motril and exaggerated the damage which had been caused to the vehicles of the other three in traffic accidents.

They all benefited from the scam and changed the damages to the vehicles before the insurance company could approve the repairs.

The investigation began after an insurance company went to the Guardia Civil reporting serious doubts regarding one of the claims they had received for an accident which occurred last November.

The budget the client brought the company was for more than €12,000, and they had already requested €9,000 just months earlier for another accident.

The repairs had been carried out at the same garage. The damages had been caused intentionally.
