SEVEN people were arrested for the death of a man whose body was found in a well.
The body of the Lithuanian victim, aged 40, was found buried under several layers of sand and cement in a well in Patiño, Murcia.
Forty-eight hours later, seven people were arrested, the alleged killer and six others accused of covering up the crime.
The police were alerted by the victim’s mother, who wrote to Interpol in December claiming she hadn’t heard from him for several weeks.
She knew he had been living in Murcia for several years and it was discovered that frequented Lithuanian beggars with records for violent behaviour.
An investigation led police to relate the disappearance to a stabbing in September when a man was found with life-threatening injuries from which he recovered in hospital.
They suspected his adversary may have died in the knife-fight and could be buried on the land he shared with other Lithuanians.
After a search with dogs, the remains were found.
The killer had fled from Murcia after the attack and was living in Huelva, where he was found.
