HOTEL reservations made by Scandinavian tourists in Nerja have risen 50 per cent compared to last year.
According to the local Tourism Councillor, Bernardo Pozuelo, although the winter season hasn’t been as good as was hoped after the record summer, local hoteliers are happy with the information.
“Scandinavian tourists have high spending power and are generally interested in gastronomy and enjoy eating out, so they generate money for other local businesses.”
Over the winter season, 2,153 Swedish tourists visited the Nerja Tourism Office, as well as 982 Norwegians, 932 Danes and 446 Finnish tourists.
Nerja has the highest number of hotels in all of the Axarquia area and is one of the most searched for Spanish destinations on the internet, “because of the quality of life of this part of the Costa del Sol, its protected areas and the climate.”
