Great-aunt shaves head to raise funds for operation

ON March 31 at 3pm, Lesley Clark, will publicly have her head shaved at Stentons, Avenida del Gamonal, Arroyo de la Miel to raise money for her great nephew to go to America for an operation.

George Palmer is a four-year-old living in Devon with his parents.

He was born six weeks prematurely by emergency c-section.

He had a major brain haemorrhage before birth and doctors said he would never walk, or talk and have severe disabilities such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy and vision problems. His parents were also told that he would never know who they were.

George is a very determined little boy and is now able to bunny hop, sit, stand against furniture and climb onto the sofa!

He has a standing frame which allows him to stand for longer periods of time and he can even taking a few steps if fully supported, although his legs are stiff and he finds the steps difficult.

He talks a little, recognises his family and some friends. Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) is an operation that will take away George’s spasticity and give him a much bigger opportunity to develop.

George has been accepted to have the operation at St Louis Children’s Hospital in America, but his family needs some €65,000.
