70 complaints against shepherd for attacking locals

A SHEPHERD has been reported by more than 70 people in the Cartama, Alora and Almogia areas for allegedly terrorising local residents.

Several altercations have arisen after he has been asked not to let his sheep enter private property, local Spanish daily Diario Sur reports.

One man spent four days in hospital after the shepherd began throwing stones at him, kicking him and beating him with a stick because he asked him not to let his sheep eat the trees on his property.

He sustained head injuries and broken ribs.

The shepherd also reportedly threatened to kill him if he reported the attack.

Other locals say that they have “had enough” of the threats and attacks they have suffered at the hands of this man and his family.

They claim his sheep live in unhygienic conditions, surrounded by animals which have died, and without food or water.

The local Farmers’ Association claim that his sheep have destroyed trees and crops, but that nothing has been done, although he was arrested by Guardia Civil for the most recent attack.
