THIEVES who stole €150,000-worth of goods from a jewellery shop in Estepona climbed onto a rubbish container and used polyurethane and cardboard to muffle the sound of the alarm.
Residents in the area told the owner of the shop, which has been open for around 20 years in Calle Valencia, that they had not seen or heard anything out of the ordinary.
It was not until he received a call from his alarm company in the early hours of the morning that anyone was aware something was wrong.
The thieves forced opened the door and took everything which had not been put in the safe.
National Police are investigating.
