ESTEPONA Council has asked for at least 10 years to return the €40 million it owes to the Social Security department.
The mayor, Jose Maria Garcia Urbano, and the Councillor for Financial matters, Manuel Aguilar, travelled to Madrid to attempt to reach an agreement with Social Security Sub-Director, Felipe Perez.
The council admitted that last year they found difficulties restarting payments of the amount they owe because some 83 per cent of the budget for the year was already spent.
