BREAKING NEWS: Mercadona acts over dog food fears

Supermarket chain Mercadona has removed a brand of dog food from its shelves in Almeria, Alicante and Murcia Provinces for fears it was causing kidney problems with dogs, a spokesman told EWN.

Although not confirmed to be the cause of the problem, the fact the brand appears to be the common link to the cases has led Mercadona to temporarily remove boxed Compy wet dog food “as a precautionary measure” until results of lab tests on the food and packaging being carried out are received.

A consumer helpline in Spanish and English has been set up by the chain 900 500 103.
