Final hurdle for Inca’s third Industrial Park

THE construction of a third Retail Park in Inca could soon be given the go-ahead and the work put out for public tender by June.

There are currently six local companies that want to be in the new Industrial Park, according to Mayor Rafel Torres.

“Just one of these involves warehouses over a 30,000m2 surface area and will create around 200 jobs. I have calculated that with all six we are talking about 500 new jobs.”

The Balearic Environment Commission has sent a certificate to Inca Town Hall in which it endorses the agreement of October 2006 for its construction. With this approval, there is only one last hurdle to go before the project can go ahead.

“We just need to expand graphic information and detail a few more of the plans before the Consell de Mallorca approves the project once and for all,” said architect Francesc Alemany, urban assessor for the town hall.

The documentation should be given to the Consell on March 31, say municipal technicians. “The Consell has promised to study the documents straight away as they realize this is a strategic project that will help combat the economic crisis and unemployment in Inca,” said the mayor.

“It is very possible that by June we will be able to put the construction work to tender.”

The town hall is the promoter of this 330,000m2 urbanization together with 70 other owners.
