Albox crime spree robber arrested

A MAN, 51, was arrested in his home in Cantoria, charged with several robberies committed in Albox.

The detainee visited a local street on a motorbike and without taking off his helmet, began banging on doors until he was able to enter one apartment block.

He knocked on one door and asked about a South American workman.

However, when the man opened the door, he took off his helmet and with one hand in his pocket told the homeowner to hand over all that he had because he was carrying a gun.

The victim began to shout for his grandson who lives in the apartment above and he left.

According to witnesses he continued to look around the street and entered a bazaar which he checked was empty before telling the shop assistant he had a gun in his pocket and demanding the money from the till and her purse, which amounted to €600.

The victims reported the crimes and thanks to the help of local residents and collaboration between the Local Police and Guardia Civil, he was arrested.

According to witnesses he began to hit himself against the Guardia Civil vehicle before the officers managed to get him inside and he was taken to the station.

He reportedly had serious drug problems and is suspected to be responsible for other robberies.
