First Emaus Variety Spectacular show in Calpe

THE first Emaús Variety Spectacular show takes to the stage in Calpe on Friday February 24, showcasing local talent, both professional and amateur.

The final line-up for the show is taking shape, but acts who have confirmed that they will be appearing include, Marcia’s Dance Centre in Calpe, giving a touch of ballet with a performance from ‘The Nutcracker’ and also traditional flamenco.

Also from Calpe, a group of musicians playing guitar, lute and mandolin will play tango music accompanied by tango dancers.

A local magician, well-known in the clubs in Benidorm for his act, will amaze the audience with illusions that will leave you mystified. Compares are also from the Benidorm club circuit, adding their own brand of humour and comedy throughout the show.

Further music will be added by a drumming group and singing and dancing by Sounds Familiar with a couple of new routines from their upcoming show.

Three Little Maids will be making an appearance from the Calpe Gilbert & Sullivan Society. Calpe Councillor Carole Saunders, who is also President of the Friends Of The Children of Emaús, will be making a guest appearance with a song from the musical Chess.

The show’s producer, Philip Ashley, is pleased to announce that the show will also premiere a new act to the Costa Blanca, Dean Weedon. Dean comes direct to the area from Helsinki where he was headlining the entertainment at the Grand Casino.

Before that he was a resident singer at the iconic Las Vegas casino ‘The Mandalay Bar’ with his rat-pack style show ‘You Must Remember This’.

Incidentally, he was the first English entertainer to perform there. Philip has guaranteed that 25 per cent of the gross ticket sales will go directly to the Friends Of The Children Of Emaús charity, with tickets priced at €12 (€8 for under 14’s).

The performance will begin at the Calpe Casa de Cultura at 8pm with the doors opening at 7.30pm.

Tickets can be booked by telephone on 965 58 14 83 or online at www.philipashley.com, or can be purchased from Margaret & Elena’s Book & Card shop in the Av.Gabriel Miro, Calpe.
