Malaga is fashion capital of Andalucia

MALAGA province is the leading exporter in Andalucia in the fashion and jewellery sector.

It accounted for almost half (43.2 per cent) of the total exports from the region in 2011.

The most exported products are textile garments (32.1 per cent), jewellery and watches (23 per cent), materials (13.9 per cent) and leather goods (10.1 per cent) according to the Extenda Andalucian Foreign Promotion Agency.

Extenda also revealed that exports from Andalucia between January and October last year were worth €460 million, 16.5 per cent more than the same period in 2010.

The main destinations are Portugal (18.3 per cent), Italy, France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom respectively.

In 2007, there were 330 fashion companies registered with Extenda, and by 2010, the number had increased to 408.
