THIRTEEN people have been arrested, charged with more than 100 robberies committed in Almeria, Alicante and Murcia.
In a joint operation, the National Police and Guardia Civil searched nine properties, seizing a large amount of jewellery, computer equipment, drugs and other items.
One of the detainees hired the gang the vehicles which they would use to travel to different towns where they committed the robberies, in exchange for drugs and stolen goods.
Most of the members of the gang were Algerian, Russian and Latvian and were involved in burglaries, document falsification and stealing items from vehicle.
They were based in Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa, but committed the crimes in Vera, Mojacar, Garrucha, Los Alcazares, Formentera del Segura, Almoradi and Rojales.
The investigation, which began last October, ended last month with arrests in Torrevieja, Alicante and in Marseille, France, where two of the members were located after European Search and Arrest warrant were issued.
Some of them are women who received the stolen goods or stored them. Seven have been remanded to prison.
