A MAN, 41, was arrested at Madrid-Barajas Airport accused of attempting to smuggle 38 kilos of cocaine into Spain in buttons, reels of cotton and tins of mayonnaise.
Guardia Civil at the airport opened the detainee’s luggage in his presence after noticing suspicious items on the scanner they went through after he arrived on a flight from Lima, Peru.
The cocaine was in different forms: liquid, slabs and powder.
He also used garments with false linings to hide the drugs, as well as camouflaging the powdered cocaine in dried food products, and the slabs in handbags and buttons.
The liquid cocaine was hidden in shampoo bottles and tins of mayonnaise.
