Torrevieja’s Winter Cultural program

WITH the New Year brings Torrevieja’s latest Cultural Program.

This year’s ‘Winter 2012’ program has been put together for a total budget of €87,400 and is available from all Public Offices in Torrevieja Torrevieja’s Councillor for Culture and Tourism, Luis Maria Pizana highlighted the department’s efforts to continue to generate economic activity in the city of Torrevieja in the first quarter of 2012.

Pizana noted that “the government team is aware of the need to develop initiatives that each week energize and encourage people to leave their homes, enjoy themselves and to come to Torrevieja to enjoy an attractive calendar of cultural and leisure events, while the struggle and challenge remains to offer affordable entrance prices.”

The star attraction this winter is the concert of David Bisbal, on February 25 at the International Music Auditorium.

This is an acoustic concert, similar to that performed to critical and audience acclaim this season at the Teatro Real in Madrid. It’s similar in style to the series made popular as MTV Unplugged.

Other highlights include the Torrevieja Symphonic Orchestra at the Municipal Theatre on January 6, offering a varied and interesting concert, as they have done in previous years.

On Sunday January 15, there is a special concert aimed at children, through the children’s musical ” “Los Cantamúsicos” ” with two performances, morning and afternoon, at a very affordable price of €10 euros for adults and €8 for children aged between two to twelve.

On January 27, one of Torrevieja’s most talked about events is scheduled, the IV Drag Queen Carnival, at 9.30pm in Municipal Theatre.

With outrageous costumes, platform heels that even Posh Spice would have problems in parading around in, this is one of the most fun events on the calendar.

Not quite family entertainment, but great fun.
